Getting Started as a Blacksmith
First, you will need to acquire a Pickaxe, pretty much any town sells them for 147 Gold, or when you created your character and selected Blacksmith as your profession it would have come with your starter pack.
Next Travel to any Mountains (they aren't hard to find) and begin using the Pickaxe on the rocks to gather Ore, this will slowly start to level your Digging skill, the higher this skill gets the more Ore you will gather at a time, and also will be able to gather different kinds of Ores like Thrallenite, Tundrite, and Brimidian once you have acquired enough Ore you may take it to the Forge and begin to smelt your Ore into Ingots and start leveling the Iron Smelting skill, note there are different skills in Smelting and Forging based of the type of Ore you are working with, for example, if I was to be working with Tundrite I would be leveling up Tundrite Smelting and Tundrite Forging, next will begin to craft items you will need to acquire a Blacksmith Hammer, you can buy this in a Blacksmith Shop for 113 Gold or comes with the Blacksmith profession starter pack, at first you will only be able to craft lower level items based off your skill level on the tables below.
Also, note that there is crafting material for blacksmithing that can only be acquired by hunting certain monsters that are listed below.
Blacksmith Quests
Shubin (Starter Quest)
Location: Silvest (Below Armor shop) Reward: 3750 Experience, Pickaxe, Blacksmith Hammer
Speaking to Shubin he ask if you're interested in learning the ways of blacksmithing.
Respond "Yes, I will unearth treasures buried in the hills!"
He will then give you a Pick Axe and ask you to go use it on the silver mountains nearby and gather 25 Iron Ore.
Once you have gathered 25 Iron ore, Return to Shubin he will say
"I See you have mined a heap of iron ore. Now go to the blacksmith area at the weaponry or armory shops.
use the iron Ore on the forge"
Next, go to the Forge click on the Billows to light it, and click on Ore in your bag and use it on the forge till you get an Iron Ingot,
Once you have it return back to Shubin he will ask that you have an ingot to use this blacksmith hammer on the iron ingot at an Anvil in the armor or weapon shops to create an item.
Now head to an anvil up and to the right of him is the weapon shop click the Hammer and use it on the ingot, any item on the crafting list will work to complete this quest, once you have crafted an item return back and he will reward you experience pool and you get to keep the Pickaxe and Hammer.

Flagates Mining Quest
Location: Flagate Mines (Below the town of New Korelth) Reward: 2,000 Experience in Digging

Quest starts in the cave below the town of NewKorelth there is a passage inside the Inn in the top left corner that will take you down into the mine
Once down in the mines head left and down and to the left you will see a Room with a door and an NPC named Yukoun, speak with him he will ask "How can I help you?" response "do you have the material to make a great sword?" He will try to locate if he has the ore but he doesn't have both eyes respond with " What has happened to your vision, Yukoun?" He will tell you a story of a place he was out mining and he had to fight off Ettins and lost it in the fight, he will respond that he is unable to teach the ways of the axe but he can teach the ways of mining and will ask you to purchase a pickaxe from the provisioner in the town or if you have one on you already that will work too, but would ask you to go mine the ore where he lost his battle with the ettins and return to him. leave him and follow the road outside of town going north towards Lotors Castle, right below the castle there are some mountains that split, and down the center of that you will see 5 tiny mountains mine at any of those and get some Ore and return to Yukoun (Note this place is very dangerous with Ettins and a mini Boss Tucci does spawn in that area)
